A YEAR OF WAR: PART ONE
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is nearing the one-year mark. In the first of two Power Vertical episodes marking the anniversary, host Brian Whitmore speaks with Volodymyr Dubovyk, an associate professor in the Faculty of International Relations at Mechnikov National University in Odesa and a visiting professor at Tufts University about the war’s major milestones, where it may be headed, and what European security might look like when it is over.
SHOW NOTES
The audio clips opening the two segments of the podcast came from a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on February 17. The speech can be accessed here. The translations of the clips are as follows:
“We are doing everything to strengthen our soldiers on the front line – our heroes who inspire the world by how they bravely and steadfastly defend the freedom of Ukraine, our land, our values.”
“Ukraine always bases its foreign policy on respect for all participants in international relations. All nations are equal and deserve an independent life, and peaceful cooperation with other nations.”
The report on Black Sea security, which was referenced in the podcast, can be accessed here.
